We were asked by a very good friends Neal & Penny Chambers of The Handmade Scotch Egg Company if we could produce a very HOT buy unusual Chutney they could use as a new Scotch Egg flavor to add to their already impressive range of Scotch Eggs currently produce. So thanks to a chance conversation between Paul and Penny at
Moseley Farmer’s Market one Saturday an idea formed and between us the Braveheart Scotch Egg very quickly came together and thus was launched at the BBC Summer GOOD FOOD SHOW 2012. The Egg is produced with FREE-Range Pork and Eggs with juicy mouth watering and fiery Scotch Bonnet Chilli Chutney.
This preserve uses Scotch Bonnet or also known as Boabs Bonnet is one of the “Hottest Chilli” peppers in the world. The “Scotch Bonnet” is found mainly in the Caribbean Islands, it is also in Guyana, the Maldives Islands and West Africa which brings the heat to this Lime based chutney with the addition of selective spices.
Most Scotch Bonnets have a heat rating of 100,000–350,000 Scoville Units.For comparison, most jalapeño peppers have a heat rating of 2,500 to 8,000 on the Scoville scale.
This is not a Lime Pickle, but a wonderful Chutney that goes great with cold meats and cheeses AND NOW USED IN A SCOTCH EGG WRAP !!!!
